Create a Payment with Installments

This guide walks you through processing an installment payment transaction using the Get Smart application. Installment payments (Fraccionamiento) allow customers to split a large purchase into several monthly payments. This feature is subject to the customer’s card eligibility and your merchant configuration.

Requirements

Before you begin, ensure you have:

• Merchant account with installments feature enabled - Contact Get Smart support to verify your account supports installment transactions
• Customer with a supported credit card - Not all cards are eligible for installment plans
• Get Smart application installed and configured on the Android device

Installment Payment Process

This section guides you through the process of creating and executing an installment payment transaction with the Get Smart App2App integration. Unlike standard sales, the Get Smart application will present the customer with an installment selection screen during the transaction.

Step 1: Create and Launch the Installment Intent

An installment payment transaction allows customers to split the total amount into monthly payments. You must create an Intent with transaction type 7 to initiate an installment payment. The Get Smart application handles the installment selection interface and processes the payment accordingly.

After launching the Intent, the Get Smart application presents the customer with a selection screen to choose the number of installments based on available promotions and card eligibility. Common options include 3, 6, or 12 monthly payments, though available plans vary by card issuer and current promotions.

Once the customer selects an installment plan and completes the payment, the Get Smart application returns control to your onActivityResult method. The response includes standard payment data plus specific fields detailing the installment plan chosen by the customer. The printed receipt will automatically include the installment breakdown.
